TSANZ | ANZSRS NZ Branch Meeting 2026

The New Zealand Branch of the Thoracic Society of Australia and New Zealand and the Australian and New Zealand Society of Respiratory Science invite you to join them for the New Zealand Branch Meeting in Otautahi Christchurch. We look forward to hosting you at the Christchurch Town Hall, from 23–25 September 2026.

The meeting program, developed around the theme “Ka Mua, Ka Muri: Walking Backwards into the Future”, brings together international and local speakers from Aotearoa New Zealand whose research is relevant to today’s clinical practice. We are thrilled to welcome our international speakers, Dr Cassidy Du Berry, A/Prof Anna Dunn, Prof Hubertus Jersmann, Dr Pamela Laird, and Prof Sheree Smith.

This year, we are adding a welcome function in the exhibition area on Wednesday, 23 September from 17:00–18:00. Included with registration, this event provides an opportunity for whakawhanaungatanga and connection with colleagues and industry partners as we begin the meeting together.

The Aotearoa NZ Branch Dinner will be held on the evening of Thursday, 24 September at the iconic Cardboard Cathedral, ensuring an unforgettable evening.

Beyond the meeting, Christchurch offers much to explore. Known as the “Garden City,” it is celebrated for its English heritage, expansive green spaces, such as Hagley Park and the Port Hills, and the gently meandering Otakaro Avon River which can be explored by waka or punt. Take time to visit the Botanic Gardens, experience the International Antarctic Centre, or simply enjoy the city’s vibrant street art and its distinctive blend of historic character and contemporary redevelopment.
